Massive police operation against Matka gambling in Adilabad, cases registered against 34 people. SP
The Adilabad district police have conducted a special campaign against illegal Matka gambling and carried out simultaneous large-scale raids across the district. District SP Akhil Mahajan, IPS, said that 20 special police teams conducted a joint operation under 10 police stations with the aim of completely eradicating the illegal gambling business like Matka.
In this special drive, 54 people, including Matka organizers, bookies and players, were checked and a total of 34 cases were registered against them at various police stations including Adilabad One Town, Two Town, Indravelli, Utnoor, Ichoda and Both. Several people involved in online Matka gambling have also been identified and legal action has been initiated against them.
SP Akhil Mahajan said that many families are facing financial difficulties due to Matka gambling and the youth are risking their lives and future in the hope of making easy money. He clarified that special campaigns will continue against Matka, online betting, cricket betting, drugs, ganja, illegal liquor and cyber crimes and strict action will be taken against those who violate the law.
He said that the assets acquired illegally through Matka are also being checked and legal action will be taken if necessary. The SP appealed to parents to keep a close eye on the activities of their children and try to keep them away from bad habits.
The district police appealed to the public to immediately inform the nearest police station or the concerned police officer if they come across any Matka or other illegal gambling activities. He said that the identity of those who provide information will be kept completely confidential. He expressed his determination to make Adilabad a “Matka-free district” with the cooperation of the people.
